Vapor Intrusion

Vapor intrusion is the migration of volitile compounds from underlying contaminated ground water or soil into occupied buildings. The number of buildings affected is currently unknown, but the EPA suggests that this poses a significant public risk.

Safe Shelter Environmental has been providing Vapor Intrusion Mitigation since 1995. Our expertise ranges from residential indoor oil spill cleanup to TCE vapor mitigation for large commercial retail complexes.

This was one of our more interesting projects. The ground water had high levels of Trichloroethylene (TCE). Contaminated springs close to the surface were bringing TCE laden water into the basement. Safe Shelter had to divert the water, shore up the crumbling wall, and install a vapor intrusion mitigation system.
